Heading out for the week. Returning July 5. As I was shuttering the factory space, I snapped a few shots to share. Small things in the space and materials and setting that embody what being an independent, American designer means to me. From one of our vintage buntings to original equipment to finding my grandmother's name repeated and intertwined with measurements on one of the walls.
This week in conversation with another independent designer, I found myself describing our businesses as a puzzle. I know we can succeed with this local, American business model. The entire endeavor is like one of those brainteaser puzzles. Very tricky to figure out in this economy but so satisfying in the end.
